The Memory Police
In a world where things vanish ? hats, birds, roses ? erased from memory and existence by the enigmatic Memory Police, a young novelist struggles to preserve what’s left. On an unnamed island, objects disappear, and with them, the ability to recall them. Those few who retain their memories live in fear, hunted by the Memory Police. The novelist discovers her editor is one of these “rememberers” and hides him in a secret room beneath her floor. As more things vanish, she fights to protect him and the vanishing memories, confronting the encroaching nothingness that threatens to consume everything, in this haunting and surreal dystopian tale exploring loss, power, and the fragility of identity.
